Porsche recently introduced a facelifted version of its Panamera sedan, and soon a similarly updated version of its Cayenne SUV will be launched.
This Cayenne facelift will be introduced as a 2015 model and should be revealed early next year before going on sale around spring.
Key among the visual changes will be new bumpers with redesigned intakes and daytime running lights. New exhaust-tip mountings also appear to be present on the latest prototypes.
The details of the lights will also change; we can expect a similar look to the units fitted on the 2014 Panamera facelift. Porsche will be keen to retain Cayenne buyers with this 2015 facelift despite the smaller and sleeker Macan hitting showrooms around the same time.
The biggest change won't be the styling, however (this is Porsche we're talking about). It will be the introduction of a Cayenne S E-Hybrid model, most likely as a replacement for the current Cayenne S Hybrid. This model will feature the same plug-in hybrid powertrain introduced on the 2014 Panamera S E-Hybrid, whose gasoline V-6 and electric motor combo provides a combined 416 horsepower of motive force, electric driving range of approximately 22 miles, and claimed fuel economy of up to 75 mpg.
As we also saw with the 2014 Panamera facelift, the Cayenne S models will likely see their naturally aspirated V-8 engines replaced by a new twin-turbocharged V-6 engine, featuring a swept capacity of 3.0 liters and developing 420 horsepower.
Though it hasn’t been confirmed yet, it’s also possible that the current Cayenne Diesel’s 240-horsepower V-6 engine may be replaced by a stouter 300-horsepower unit.
